I'm ALIVE!

  • Miles: :30 trainer
  • Route: 1st trainer of season

Sorry it has been a while riders....crap, this is NOT how I figured my cycling season would wind down. I get fired from a job I was at for over 14 years and I figure I'll have more time to just log miles and take advantage of the free time before the snow hits.

NO WAY!

Between the lousy weather and having my hands full trying to get my podcast off the ground cycling has taken a back seat...way back.

But there is some news today on the cycling front....

Oh, first off here is the link to my regular website where you can connect with my PhilCast podcast if you have not heard about it and might be interested.

The cycling occasion today? I did 30 minutes on the trainer...the first trainer ride of the season. My setup now in the cycling room is pretty cool. It also doubles as what I call my recording lounge, where the PhilCast podcast is recorded. So I've got all my cycling decor surrounding me as I either ride the trainer or record the show, with or without guests....which brings me to the other cycling news of the day.

Turns out I have a new pro rider to follow and cheer for. And it also turns out he's practically a neighbor of mine!

His name is Mathew Busche, and he has just been signed on as one of the young bucks on Lance Armstrong's new Radio Shack team. I mean, how cool is that friends?

More about Matt

I can only imagine the hundreds of times I've ridden right past his parents house...never knew a world class rider was so close to me all that time.

Well, I've hooked up with Matt now via email. He's on board to stop over to my recording lounge to do an interview with me for the PhilCast in December. He's currently training in New Mexico and will be home around Christmas time. As he wrote me, "Phil, for sure I would be down with doing an interview."

Sweet. That'll be fun to do for sure. Meantime, look him up...follow his career...cheer him on. I know I will be! GO MATT!
