On the 8th day, Hip hits the wall

Well let it never be said that I don't follow my own advice, because I'm always preaching the value of rest and recovery and listening to your body.

After back-to-back 40-milers over the weekend and on this the eighth day in a row of riding I hit some sort of wall today. The weather was fine again, with sun and 60 showing. But there was a bit of a cold wind blowing. I felt a bit underdressed as I headed out without a lot of excitement on this Monday. This would be a nice recovery ride day.

But I felt funny. I was cool on the outside but was sweating...not from working out, but that strange cold sweat kind of feeling. It wasn't that my legs were just tired, but more like my entire body was off here. Then, all I could think of was the fact that I felt like I was starving. I wanted to get home and eat a giant ham sandwich and a few granola bars. That's exactly what I did.

I had the sense to turn around and just give up on this.

Time for a little recovery.

Ummm...it shouldn't be the student telling the coach that he made a stupid decision today~ DOH!!! Practice what you PREACH!

You should have not even thought about a ride today after TWO MAJOR big rides this weekend and coming off the winter from HELL!

I had no time today to go out, and even though still 3lbs over my high end weight, I didn't feel guilty regardless if it wasn't raining and decent enough to ride today or not.

I had web sites to work on and other things to get accomplished. There IS life outside of cycling bro
