The 2008 season of cycling.
--"Mama, the Italians are coming!"

If you happened to have been blinded by a bright light around mid-day Wednesday in the Whitnall Park area, not to worry. That was just the sun reflecting off my white legs. Yes, FIRST BARE LEGS RIDE OF THE YEAR today. At one point I looked down and thought to myself, "Geez, my legs are as white as Elmer's Glue."
Wild, windy and warm. The forecast said we could see gusts to 40 mph today and I believe I got a few of those in the face on the way out. Now that's work on these out-of-shape legs I tell ya. But on the way back there were a couple of sections of Root River Parkway when the wind was pushing me and I was doing a steady 27 mph without effort.
The weather goes back into the tank after today, with 40's and rain predicted for the next several days. So I took advantage of the sun today by strapping on my favorite kit, which now features my new Team FDJ short sleeved jersey which I had to cut the tag off of today...with the white FDJ arm warmers and the white FDJ bibs as well.
I was glad I had the warmers, because they did just what they were supposed to do...up on the way out and into the wind when it was 60...and rolled down with tailwind and 66 by the end of the ride.
Wind this strong is a real pain for sure, but I'll still take it because the sun was out...it was warm...white legs were exposed to the world again and all, even if it was for a short time, felt right on a bike again.
HAHA! At least I got a tad of color from vacation
hehehe
